MapForMe (“the App”) is designed to respect your privacy and to collect no more information than it needs. This policy explains what information the App handles, what it is used for, and what choices you have.
The App does not require an account. The developer does not collect or store information that identifies you personally, such as your name, email address, phone number, or date of birth.
Everything you create or save in the App is stored only on your device. It is never sent to, or stored on, the developer’s servers.
This data is erased when you delete the App from your device. You can also erase it from Settings → Delete all data inside the App.
To improve the App, anonymous usage data is sent to the analytics service PostHog (servers in the EU region).
What is sent is only a record of actions and counts — which features were used, and how far. The content you enter or create is never sent. The App also disables GeoIP, the feature that estimates a location from the sender’s IP address.

What is never sent: the names, addresses, or coordinates of your saved places, your photos, your notes, the text you type when searching or fixing a location, the names of your lists and tags, and your GPS location are never sent. The App does not record your screen, and it does not capture your interactions automatically (autocapture).
The kinds of events sent may change as features are added or improved. Even when kinds are added, the scope of “what is never sent” above will not change. If that scope ever changes, this policy will be revised.
How to stop it: turn off Settings → Send usage data in the App and sending stops immediately. You can change this at any time.
When you search for a place, the text you entered and your display language (Japanese, English, or Korean) are sent to the Google Places API. When you then select a suggestion, only the identifier of that suggestion is sent to retrieve its details.
When the App fills in the address and coordinates of an imported place, the name and address of that place are sent to the Google Geocoding API (the language is fixed to Japanese for this request).
If the number of places to fill in exceeds the limit for high-precision resolution (the free plan’s allowance), the remainder are resolved using Nominatim, the place-name search service operated by the OpenStreetMap Foundation. In that case only the name of the place is sent (the address and coordinates are not sent; the language is fixed to Japanese). The request also carries an application identifier (the app name and bundle ID), which Nominatim’s usage policy requires.
Your GPS location is not sent. Search suggestions are accompanied by a fixed area covering Japan, and address completion by a preference for Japan; both are fixed values and have nothing to do with where you are.
The App uses RevenueCat and Apple to manage the status of subscription purchases, renewals, and cancellations. Payment details such as credit card numbers are handled by Apple, and the developer never receives them.

About reading EXIF: The App reads only the recorded location (latitude and longitude) and the date the photo was taken. Both are handled entirely on your device and are never sent to, or stored on, the developer’s servers. The App does not analyse the image itself, and it does not infer a location from a photo that has none. Simply attaching a photo to a place does not read EXIF.
Even if you deny the location permission, all of the App’s main features — showing the map, saving places, and organising them — remain available.
The App shows no advertising. It does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA), and it does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites. The developer does not attempt to identify individual users from the information collected.
About usage data already sent: the App does not attach any identifier that points to you to usage data. This is by design, so that individuals are not identifiable — but it also means there is no way to locate one person’s records. Deletion on individual request is therefore not possible. The App is not directed primarily at children. The developer does not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
If this policy changes, this page will be updated and the last-updated date revised. If the change is significant, it will be announced in the App.
